If it isn't around, you can just hop down to get your spider parts with relatively low risk as it is easy to get away from if it does spot you due to all the roots and other crap you can put between it and you. It will probably hit you with webs, but can't reach you otherwise.Īttacking the wolf spider will often get its attention. You can also cheese the orb weaver that spawns nearby from that spot to get rid of it so it doesn't corner you when you collect the wolf spider parts. You can just shoot straight down through the hole right above where it sits and it will just look up at you. There's a leaf right over it, and it's full of holes. When sleeping you can pretty much walk right up to them from any direction they aren't facing and hit them with a melee weapon and they won't wake up until you hit them.Įven if you do somehow wake them up, you should be able to make it to the crevice before they can reach you once you know where it is, as they do the threat display animation before attacking giving you time to run over to it.Īs a bonus, the one that spawns outside is also easily cheesed if you find it in its sleeping spot. There is little to no risk of waking the spiders up unless you walk right up to their faces. The worst part is collecting enough mites, but that also doesn't take very long as there are a ton nearby and you should have a bunch already if you tried to use the mysterious machine to open the Oak Lab already. You can use the leaves on the plants to work your way up, just be sure to have a dandelion tuft in your trinket slot. It doesn't take very long to get enough materials to make 200-250 arrows, as most thistle plants have about 70 or so thorns on them. If you're on easy it doesn't take that many, but for medium or whoa I recommend bringing about 200-250 arrows with you. If the wolf spiders are sleeping, you can just walk into the den and go into the crevice opposite the bomb wall and kill them with any bow. You will want about 100+ arrows with the Sprig Bow, (50 with Crossbow) just in case the Orb Weaver joins the party. Kill it too.Īlways my first Wolf Spider to get and the first place I look when going on a hunt for Wolf Spider resources. But that's all the Orb Weaver can do, shoot webbing at you. Sometimes the Orb Weaver gets involved so you have to dodge the webs by strafing right over the leaf. Because it's too high for it to jump or the leaf get in its way I have never been reached. Stand just past the leaf so that you have a a little bit of cover and a clear shot and fire away. Get on top of the rock just outside the entrance to the Oak Lab and jump up to the root, walk up the root and duck under the leaf and look down to the right. If you are facing the entrance to the Oak Lab its on the other side of the root to the right. Right around the corner from the entrance to the Oak Lab, there is a Wolf Spider that sleeps under a leaf, during the day, that is easy pickings. There is another spot I like to use, early game. Make sure to put a lean-to nearby in case of misadventure and good luck! Extra arrows are for cases where you miss or you get unlucky and aggro both spiders. This is because you’re standing on a surface it can’t stand on so the AI just freezes in place. If done properly, there should be one spider below you staring up with its two front legs in the air, but unable to attack you. Crow Crossbow is very worth the investment if you have that option available.ĭuring the day the spiders are sleeping so go to the entrance that has a twig that leads up to a yard lantern, shoot one spider and immediately jump about halfway up the twig, don’t go all the way up. You won’t need this many, but having extras helps in case you screw up step two. After much science I’ve figured out how to farm the wolf spiders in the oak tree pretty effortlessly so I wanna pass on the info for anyone struggling to get fangs and poison.
